….a letter to Chasing the Road

The irony of it all dear, is that in all of my travels, my forest finding adventures, mountains, waterfalls, horse riding, wildlife, oceans, sunrises and sunsets, the place where I found peace, was alone, in my home, on my couch, in solitude! My mom always told me that’s where God can be found; in solitude. In creating you, I created my alter ego, the place where I was 100% myself and the silence that followed…

Happy first birthday to Chasing the Road ☀️🕊️💛🕸️✨☔️❄️

Traveling has been the best decision I ever made. I guess people opt to do it for a number of reasons, mine was threefold. One; because I absolutely love South Africa, it is a beautiful country! Filled with forests, mountains, oceans, waterfalls, wildlife, the best sunrises and sunsets…and the Bokke 🇿🇦… it is simply exquisite! It was through all these terrains that my second reason took root; it healed me! It took my courage by…

Cathedral Peak 27 July 2023

Howdy FT’s 🐞 We went for a walk after breakfast and it’s official, I am the unfittest person on planet earth! But wow, the views are out of this world beautiful! Read a book at the pool, had lunch, took a walk to the Chapel and went on another walk. And of course I lay on the grass and got a different view of the world 🩵😁 The sun tucks itself behind the mountain by…

Sunrise Cathedral Peak Hotel ☀️

27 July 2023 Good morning Fellow Travelers 🐞 Woke at 06:25, TimTam and I were having coffee on my patio when, at 06:52, the sun peeked her head out from behind the mountain, I gulped and shot up! I have never seen something so picturesque and absolutely peaceful. As usual loads of pics of one sunrise 😊 🐝

Snow Johannesburg 10 July 2023

Hello Fellow Travelers 🐞 I opened my curtains and burst into tears, snow, beautiful snow. Johannesburg doesn’t get to experience this very often and it reminded me of my brother as it snowed the year he was born 1981 and once more in June 2007 and now today! What a wonderful way to spend the morning ❄️ 🐝

Kruger 01 June 2023

Howdy fellow travelers 🐞 The day began with beautiful rain this morning and then cleared up to a perfect day, and for me it was a “do nothing day”, I literally lazed around on the lounger watching the hippos all day. They were out the water, in the water, swimming up and down, a lot more active than I was that’s for sure. I head home tomorrow but will certainly miss the morning hippo calls…

Kruger, Graskop and Blyde River Canyon

31 May 2023 Howdy FT’s 🐞 Woke up early, hoping to catch the sunrise, but it would seem I missed it. Made my way into the park and almost immediately saw three Hyenas, how luck can one girl be! Stayed in the park for two hours, saw Impalas, Monkeys and Elephants…. But my soul was longing for the forests, so I came via Graskop to the Blyde River Canyon, what an incredible drive into Graskop.…

Off the beaten track 🌸

A lesson learnt: On Friday night I was relaying a story to a friend which had distressed me quite a bit to be telling. And he looked at me and said “so what” and it’s got me thinking how many situations in life we over analyze or overthink, when if we had to say “so what” would it make them any easier? Because in most cases, the fear is greater in our minds than in…

Kruger National Park 30 May 2023

Howdy fellow travelers 🐞 Had a beautiful day in the Kruger Park, headed towards Lower Sabie, and then back to Skukuza, where I “boarded the train” and from there drove along the Pretoriuskop route and back to the Paul Kruger gate in time for sunset. Saw loads of animals especially impala obviously, but I just love them, hence all the pics! Two Leopards literally walked in front of my car and disappeared. All in all…

Sabie River Bush Lodge

🐞 As I arrived, what was the very first thing I saw? A cat! Yes a cat! Today I had to request a child half the size of me, which makes her tiny… ok ok, to move it out my way as I am petrified of it. She looked at me rather strangely 😀 Anyway, this place is beautiful, have a look at the pics, they speak for themselves. Alternatively I can talk your head…

Kruger Park and banks of the Sabie River

29 May 2023 Good afternoon fellow travelers 🐞 I had a delicious breakfast at the lodge, followed by a two hour drive through the Kruger, I went in through the Paul Kruger Gate, as it turns out it’s closer and easier to get to than the Phabeni Gate. While sitting at a Buffalo sighting, I accidentally blew my hooter, the next thing about 50 Buffalos were on high alert! One of them had his tongue…
